I think you did the right thing with a newby. Hopefully not many complaints from the wolves. I mean he was thinking about the inexplicable move to not shoot, but I think he would have eventually came to his senses. Yeah i feel bad for the wolves on one sense....BUT...i think BB is gonna pull this out. If they are wise in their night kills...they can win this. YOu have to assume Zarathud is gonna be on the chopping block and so will be Archinerd. The wolves do have a daunting task of getting rid of: stessier, punisher, holman and isgrinmur. To all the wolves who come by here...I am sorry how this went down. I know I was in a grey area, but i stand by decision. I think he would have shot eventually; i probably prodded him to do it sooner. However, I justify it by the overwhelming sense of the villagers being frustrated and secondly it was "known" that Rick was around and thirdly everyone was saying the same thing. |

Hey, just got connected here.
Sorry - had a nice break out of town visiting my sister - and yet I'm still in the middle of a huge project in work where I have dozens of deliverables...
What a mess. I played SOOoooooOOOooooo poorly.
And - regarding my "tell", a few things...
First off, I'm happy to say I started this game without any time, so I'm pretty sure what (not saying it's not a tell) my tell is, is that I play un-involved, or short-posts, or no analysis.... but (and again, it could be a tell as well), but I must say - this game was not a standard game for me, with the amount of time I could pour into it.
Second of all, and this is the main thing.....
What the hell? Why would you guys "gloat" about knowing "my tell"? What's that about?
Let me ask you: Would you play poker with a buddy of yours that gloats about your obvious tell? I wouldn't. So, frankly, if I do have a tell -- I'm compelled to not play with you guys because you claim you have an automatic win against me... Right? So - really, what's the point of your gloating? Is it just an attempt to 'knock me down a peg?'. If so, that makes me sad, as I really don't think I'm unbeatable or anything at all... So, yeah - in my half-re-read, I was made 'the sad'...
Regarding the Punisher thing. Well - I've not gotten to the part where you made contact, but I think the moderator should be entirely hands off on prodding pushing or engaging the player at all. I'm not bummed out that you did it... I think you are plenty bummed that you did it yourself. I'll pretend to be a parent here: "I'm not upset, just disappointed".
and No Scoop, you sills.... you didn't fool us, we just (I just) insisted we go Full On Cocky... and it didn't play out.
Also - DAMN! I will say if I had only thought of suggesting we just Lynch RMC that day instead of coming up with a plan for him to Fake Seer, I swear this whole thing would have gone differently. RMC would have popped on stessier or El Guapo, and we'd have struck out at who remained that night (with a possible Vorret thrown in, but I was reluctant to kill him since I felt he was hot for a lynching).

i dont like where we are at in the game...its grinding down i can feel it. Not sure what the next step after that is though. Just sent it....as written above. Still not sure what to do if that doesn't jar something lose. I feel like you were just being impatient (and we all feel that way sometimes), and yet you had the Moderator Power to IM people. You shouldn't. Ever. Unless they reach out to you, I don't think the Moderator should ever 'prod' or 'contact' even the player with questions which will, clearly, prod the player into action. What stands out to me in reading how this all went down here, NC, you just come across as WAY to worried that the game is stalling and then trying to make it move and stuff... so, just my 2 cents - you shouldn't contact the player At All (I feel like Lassr kept trying to say that, but then just gave up)

I will say this - Don't Feel Like you ruined anything NC. You didn't. But still, it's not appropriate.
I've never seen you this hyper-concerned-attentive to your games and I don't think you need to be.... Let em ride out.

Another way to answer it, - think through the steps of the game so far. What has happened? What do you currently believe to be the truth? -You will never know for sure if you have killed the berserker wolf unless a. he goes off or B. glenn's post death scan. -your value as Rick is for that shot and to come out at some point. The seer generally plays a stealth game, the shooter tends to emerge when needed. Just spitballing here. Happy you didn't go with those spitballs... that's coaching - right?

a) Not complain, because I'm not a jerk and this is just a game, and I really don't care, and we (I) did enough to make this game a loss
and yet
b) communicate honestly that it was clearly wrong to engage him in that conversation in the first place and then struggle with ways to Prod him to shoot, when he may not have, or may have waited "too long" , etc. We all learn this game the same way.... Just curious, did you guys ever have a moderator engage you like that? I never did.
so, please understand that it's both a) and b) for me here.
Certainly, I am NOT raising any formal protest. I guess I wish I was around to say my thoughts while it was going on.

Thanks Unagi. I do value your input. At that time i sensed the frustration of everyone who had posted and I could sense a grinding feel to everyone's posts. I probably very well could have left it alone but on the other hand if i had and it was still grinding down, i really didnt want folks churning away in a frustrated way. That's the way it seemed to be heading down when I reached out to him.
HOWEVER....i still do think BB is gonna pull this off. He's on no one's radar right now.

I think I've 3 PM conversations with him. I've marked em all in here for full accountability. The first two times were more checking in on him letting him know i was available if he had any questions. The last occasion would be the "conversation" regarding the shot. Though to be honest, i was hoping he'd shoot a survivor, because I wanted to use that write up....ie someoene's naked corpse on the ground...HMMM might still work that in somehow. AND i have to still work in Scoop munching on Zarathud... Unagi - you and all the wolves have the absolute right to complain on how I handled it and feel aggrieved. It was a gray area and you could even make a very cogent argument that I tilted the scales. I'm not comfortable on the whole with it...and maybe I should have waited a bit longer. I do wish you were here to add your input. But at the same time, in the moment with everything that was transpiring, the mood in the thread, i felt i made the right move for the greater good of everyone's enjoyment. I'd like to know the rest of the folks reaction. And it's a learning experience for me as a moderator....well it will teach me patience then right?  |

Oh another thinig Unagi...you're killing off of Lassr is really helping you guys right now since it's providing quite a bit of confusion for the village. Wonder if they might actually lynch stessier. I think for BB the biggest hoop would be to somehow get Remus lynched. Though I think any which way you slice it...on the final day its gonna be BB, 1 proven and X. I'd have to do the math but there are way too many provens out there now.

It's funny a lot of us have so many games under our belt that the improbable situations no longer seem improbable. Remember Mara Jade or my game a while back where every seer scan was killed the next day, we've seen this stuff happen that just defies the odds that stessier as Glen seems really possible even though the odds heavily weigh against it.
